with increase population need for more shops new facilities should not compromise existing facilities concessionary bus pass used so fares not excessive

speed humps do slow traffic down cheap and effective. buses during the off peak are virtually empty shouild they run less often. The council have caused much of the traffic problems by allowing houses to be built without parkikng facilities I have lived in the village since 1947

As a single person of 64, many of the issues do not concern me directly. Long Ashton may be better admininstered from Bristol, who may view LA as one of its vital green areas. Disappointed by infrequent bus service. Some buses which go down the bypass could go through the village. Minibus to park and ride would be useful. Some pavements narrow, but no space to widen. Would support local employment for local people. Nothing seems to happen from Neighbourhood Watch now, although there were meetings and leaflets to begin with. Strongly in favour of facilities for youngsters. Could the traffic lights at the Park and Ride be turned off when the P&R was not running.

Street lighting could be improved on the main road. Green belt is very important at the Bristol end. Traffic calming is needed at both ends of the main road. The Bus times could be enclosed in the village newsletter. The paving by the coop and pizza shop is appalling. People are parking by thenew houses on the main road, this is going to cause an accident. Flowers/planting in front of the Bristish Legion would be good. Recycling bins for plastics would be better than nothing.

Bus service to Clevedon running through the village, at least in the morning, and returning in the afternoon. There is one to Weston every hour!

2.07 restrict carriageway to single lane at edge of village, priority to outbound traffic, 3.08 quality of buses very poor - dirty, old 3.09 should deliver bus timetable to houses, every 15 mins service would increase useage 3.12 cycle lanes on road not safe, suggest use of pavements, need to copy examples from continent 6.03 village green in the centre- where King nursery would be ideal 8.05 improve street lighting - only 3 lights in /chestnut 7.07 parking on main road allowed in clumps which would ack like traffic calming

post office is important, next day delivery not guaranteed unless posted before 12pm, needs modernising inside, I would need 2 buses to get to work, speed and amount of traffic concerns, plus parking outside Toyota garage/top of Glebe road, makes access in and out of road difficult, parking also a problem along the Weston road where they are developing the old Research station

Bus 364 should come through village rather than by-pass Proper shop rather than expensive Co-op for regular shopping double yellow lines by new houses walking area by Fenswood

lack of cycle lanes into Bristol Very concerned about speed of traffic as a cyclist unsafe walking on unpavemented roads way of finding about local services, eg plumber carpenter gardener builder later and nicer buses would be good

Would join voluntary lift scheme subject to work. Bus journey into Bedminster , two buses, 90 min. compared with car 15 min. Hebron holiday activities for one week probably not enough.

To replace the seating in the bus shelters, not allowing yob culture to deny the public of the one true helpful facility. Regardless of what has seemingly become the Anti-Environment Department's intention through revaluation, I think that one should consider the planting of trees, where made possible, around the village as a boundary demonstration disconnecting itself from any intenntion of a larger boundary authority. Although one could say Long Ashton has become a townite village, I'm sorry, I cannot understand the thought of various businesses, which would be the basis of township. To support landfill site at east end of village with subsequent landscaping to debar the area from permanent building development.

Bus frequency - Weston and Clevedon buses should be routed through the village, rather than down the bypass, thus giving improved service. Library not mentioned in this survey - WHY NOT? It should be improved by providing a toilet and refreshments, thus fulfillliing the need for a meeting place in the centre of the village, and encouraging people to the shopping area. The opening hours should also be increased to make better use of the exissting valuable facility. Doctors surgery - With the expanded village, there is a need for an EXTRA FULL TIME DOCTOR. Surgery should be open at lunchtime (invaluable for working people), and we should return to a Saturday morning emergency surgery. CURRENT OPENING HOURS ARE INADEQUATE. Parking - Vehicles parked on the main road outisde the new houses at the Research Station create a very dangerous situation and should be prevented. Police should enforce obstruction laws on the bend/brow of the hill. Pavements - These should be better maintained and cleared, particularly along 'The flats' to Cambridge Batch. Roads - The road surfaces along the main road through the village are appalling, also Ridgeway Road is like a roller coaster - particularly bad for cyclists in both cases.

Parking on one side of main road only regular and cheaper buses fill in pot holes on main road Towing signs should be removed from behind co-op village cirular walk great access to lake just beyond railway line would be good

Need proper cycle path into Bristol - not white lines on roads. When Ashton Court is closed, cycling into Bristol is very difficult. A more direct route would be better. Also need bus route via Temple Meads station. Bristol bus station is too far from railway.

Raising kerbs for buses a waste of time, as buses don't stop in the correct position. It is the vehicles that need adjusting.

Better and more frequent bus service would use park and ride for work, but service has deteriorated - more drivers/buses at peak times Park & ride during evenings would be useful

I have left many questions unanswered because a) they were not applicable, didn't affect me b)I do not like "should" questions 3.09 Timetables can be bought from the bus station and Travel 6 3.10 Bus stops - I need to be able to sit down, in the dry AND be able to see when a bus is coming. See Cleeve - (Bristol bound) - the near perfect bus stop. DO NOT let anyone replace/redo a bus shelter without asking someone who uses the bus. The stop by the Angel is a prime example of money being spent uselessly, 3.11 I do cycle, separation from cars would make life pleasanter and safer. 5.03 If you want the village newsletter to be a means of communication - 3 times a year is not enough. 6.03 More seats scattered perhaps would be more use - On the rec, public footpaths Dawson's walk etc. 6.06 Depends on the buses. BRI is fine. Southmead not. Clevedon no buses. WSM takes forever. 7.08 More planting, more upkeep. A shrub warden? 8.02 Pavements. Why not ask people to cut shrubs back? i.e ask them personally if they are able. Pay to help if not. 9.03 More jobs in L.A. may not lessen traffic 11.07 There is already several yoga classes & 2 taichi 8.01 Walking I walk anyway. Safer would mean pleasant AND safer. p.s. I would like a public loo near the village hall.

Bus service to Bedminster

I have grave concerns about the pedestian crossing at the Co-op. On a great many occasions one car has stopped, I have started to walk across, the car on the other side doesn't. I feel this is a great danger to children in particular. I have been in contact with Trevor Byford and he says the police are aware of the problem and are hoping to back a puffin crossing. Perhaps we could all back this before a child is knocked down. There has already been one knocked down on the other village crossing for the same reason as described above. I have answered the questions on buses; however it is rather difficult to give the answers as I am a pensioner so get free transport - this does encourage me to use them more. I gather the C-op have put clamping signs in the car park behind them. This will not help the already obvious parking problem on the main road outside; this car park, as I understand it, is not entirely the Co-op's but part belongs to the local authority anyway. It should be made clear by the Co-op which are their parking spaces if they are making this claim. I also understanf d the vet practice has 2-3 spaces for their staff - even the GPs were never given parking spaces! 2-3 spaces is quite unnecessary - there is only one visiting vet as there is only one consulting room. I also feel the Co-op should be pressured into using their own rear loading bay. I gather it needs bringing up-to-date for Health and Safety. Their lorries cause a great many problems on the road. I have even seen them carry on with their manoeuvres and keep an emergency vehicle waiting.

Why is the Park and Ride bus cheaper than the service bus to Bristol. Surely this is a subsidising people with cars in preference to people without! The Park and Ride has a more pleasant waiting area and provides car parking so it should be more expensive than the service bus. Pedestrian/cycling facilities along the main road are awful.

Bus fairs to Nailsea for school expensive for 2 children Co-op a disgrace - Sainsbury's or Tescos would be better, as they would manage security

Greater Frequency of buses and on time (some are 5 minutes early) Alternate doctor's surgery at Bristol end

move the yanley lane bus stop, because parked cars obscure the sign. better site would be opposite the new Theynes Croft sign

traffic, parking outside Church House dangerous - double yellow lines would help -people should make more use of the nearby car park, smaller buses such as hoppers would be more practical, safer and less polluting than current type, which cause obstruction particularly when stationary. living close to the bypass: noise from bypass is obrusive when motor bikers do their 100+mph runs and know how to avoid speed cameras - only police presence can discourage this motor sport actities for youngsters should be encouraged (motorsport enthusiast for 30 years) but not close to the village, difficult to supervise and make safe also noisy and hard to make riders run silencers on bikes that do not need to conform to RTA Construction and uses regs. How would riders get to the track? 'Trials riders' already use the village footpath network to ride untaxed unregistered and uninsured to the woods - dedicated area would only encourage juniors to do the same to get to and from home. speed: fit a speed governor to the little red car that delivers from the local pizza shop - fastest thing in the village! thanks to those who do so much to improve life within the village

no to electronic bus timetable screens - vandalism etc Welcome pack referred to in section five not received Disabled parking bay by co-op needed for use, but delivery vans and other cars use it - parking regime strictly imposed disabled parking required by post office / chemist admin expenses for parish council too high

Direct bus to Clevedon (in summer) as there used to be.

comment on Q11.21 not clear if this refers to school holidays or people coming on holiday to the area. Boules pitch would be great for all all ages & fitness levels First Bus Service is dreadful particularly when one is trying to catch a scheduled bus returning to LA from Bristol. On average I have to wait an additional 25-40 mins and the prices charged are far too high even if their services were adequate

Railway station condition of future development woodland footpatshs should not be resurfaced cycle paths should be separate from roads frequency and speed of buses the issue, not fares no more development between la and David Lloyd Improved invironment around shops and pubs Bus service better than own car Tip is an eysore

Empty buses on by-pass should be redirected through village pathways beyond village limits not good, especially for those walking into Bristol - cross council co-ordination? Buses very infrequent. Much prefer to use bus than car but bus just too expensive! Would like to see more use of village hall facilities for social events eg plays, music concerts etc

Who whould care for seating area/plants? People need time in "doctors" "buses" to cater for pushchairs People dON'T stop for existing crossings. "Scout hut" needs to be bigger with expansion of village

Bus schedules need to be truly reliable. Buses too expensive for younger people. More litter bins needed. Need better local transport to and from airport. Need weekly banking facility.
