How can a lot of these questions be intelligently answered?? Is it fair for one person to pay £1606 per year Council Tax and another person to pay nil?

Simply that there is much here about which I know nothing - would have liked more "don't know" boxes as often my opinion will not be qualified. However any extra facilities will always require a budget for repairs after vandalism. This is a key factor in any spending decisions.

Youth activities should be facilitated by adults but, as far as possible, run by young people themselves to develop organisational skills and to foster a sense of responsibility. You do not mention mountain biking amongst leisure activities and yet ther are trails in the woods above the village (owned by the University of Bristol). Should these not be considered? When asking for opinions it is hardly good policy to preface questions with a set of opinions of your own on the topic! A properly designed survey would not contain statements such as the one in 2.0 Thank you for your time and effort.

It would be nice to have some local restaurants as opposed to public houses. One of the bigger problems faced by Long Ashton is anti-social behaviour. The use of walkways and lanes by motorised scooters is particularly worrying. The condition of the surface of the main road has appeared to deteriorate considerably in recent months, especially between Folleigh Lane and the Bristol end of the village. This questionnaire has been appreciated in enabling us to give our views.

My husband and I are retired so many questions are not reasonable for us. Both of us are over 70 so sporting activities are rather out of the question. One item I would like to put for suggestion is the possibility of a letter box near the Northleaze Primary School. Having recently had hip replacement surgery it is quite a walk to the other letter boxes.

Not sure whether it is useful to ask for 'opinions' on merits of various schemes, without providing background info. I am not really qualified to decide whether a 2nd football pitch is more needed than a scout hut. Presumably other residents will be suitably unqualified, which discredits the validity of the responses. Why can't the Scouts use the same venue as the Guides? Presumably their inner village site could be sold, and funds used for other purposes? Longer opening hours at Library. Continued opening up of rights-of-way/footpaths.

I have left many questions unanswered because a) they were not applicable, didn't affect me b)I do not like "should" questions 3.09 Timetables can be bought from the bus station and Travel 6 3.10 Bus stops - I need to be able to sit down, in the dry AND be able to see when a bus is coming. See Cleeve - (Bristol bound) - the near perfect bus stop. DO NOT let anyone replace/redo a bus shelter without asking someone who uses the bus. The stop by the Angel is a prime example of money being spent uselessly, 3.11 I do cycle, separation from cars would make life pleasanter and safer. 5.03 If you want the village newsletter to be a means of communication - 3 times a year is not enough. 6.03 More seats scattered perhaps would be more use - On the rec, public footpaths Dawson's walk etc. 6.06 Depends on the buses. BRI is fine. Southmead not. Clevedon no buses. WSM takes forever. 7.08 More planting, more upkeep. A shrub warden? 8.02 Pavements. Why not ask people to cut shrubs back? i.e ask them personally if they are able. Pay to help if not. 9.03 More jobs in L.A. may not lessen traffic 11.07 There is already several yoga classes & 2 taichi 8.01 Walking I walk anyway. Safer would mean pleasant AND safer. p.s. I would like a public loo near the village hall.

I hope our answers are useful. However some questions have clearly been designed to encourage certain answers. This devalues the whole questionnaire. It woulh have helped to have an option of no opinion.

Add a 'don't know' or 'no prefereence' tick box to all lines. Having a good cafe would add to the community. Backwell Swimming Pool is already very good, just requiring some refurbishment in changing rooms.
