I would like to see bollards on the pavement outside the supermarket to stop parking obstructing views to and from the crossing. (The respondee drew a map to illustrate where the bollards are required.) Q 8.05 refers to overhanging trees and shrubs Householder should be warned by letter if they do not trim foliage from their property the council will do it and send them the bill!

As a single person of 64, many of the issues do not concern me directly. Long Ashton may be better admininstered from Bristol, who may view LA as one of its vital green areas. Disappointed by infrequent bus service. Some buses which go down the bypass could go through the village. Minibus to park and ride would be useful. Some pavements narrow, but no space to widen. Would support local employment for local people. Nothing seems to happen from Neighbourhood Watch now, although there were meetings and leaflets to begin with. Strongly in favour of facilities for youngsters. Could the traffic lights at the Park and Ride be turned off when the P&R was not running.

Street lighting could be improved on the main road. Green belt is very important at the Bristol end. Traffic calming is needed at both ends of the main road. The Bus times could be enclosed in the village newsletter. The paving by the coop and pizza shop is appalling. People are parking by thenew houses on the main road, this is going to cause an accident. Flowers/planting in front of the Bristish Legion would be good. Recycling bins for plastics would be better than nothing.

lack of cycle lanes into Bristol Very concerned about speed of traffic as a cyclist unsafe walking on unpavemented roads way of finding about local services, eg plumber carpenter gardener builder later and nicer buses would be good

Bus frequency - Weston and Clevedon buses should be routed through the village, rather than down the bypass, thus giving improved service. Library not mentioned in this survey - WHY NOT? It should be improved by providing a toilet and refreshments, thus fulfillliing the need for a meeting place in the centre of the village, and encouraging people to the shopping area. The opening hours should also be increased to make better use of the exissting valuable facility. Doctors surgery - With the expanded village, there is a need for an EXTRA FULL TIME DOCTOR. Surgery should be open at lunchtime (invaluable for working people), and we should return to a Saturday morning emergency surgery. CURRENT OPENING HOURS ARE INADEQUATE. Parking - Vehicles parked on the main road outisde the new houses at the Research Station create a very dangerous situation and should be prevented. Police should enforce obstruction laws on the bend/brow of the hill. Pavements - These should be better maintained and cleared, particularly along 'The flats' to Cambridge Batch. Roads - The road surfaces along the main road through the village are appalling, also Ridgeway Road is like a roller coaster - particularly bad for cyclists in both cases.

Parking opposite Angel pub creates problems No more houses Pavements tidied up Roads on the Birdwell Estate tarmaced properly The Co-op is an eye-sore More public awareness of plans to build on land from Ashton Gate through to Barrow. Important to stop this Doctors Surgery - they do their best but to get an appointment is a joke Our village has to stay a village More local based events Should enter Village of the Year

I have left many questions unanswered because a) they were not applicable, didn't affect me b)I do not like "should" questions 3.09 Timetables can be bought from the bus station and Travel 6 3.10 Bus stops - I need to be able to sit down, in the dry AND be able to see when a bus is coming. See Cleeve - (Bristol bound) - the near perfect bus stop. DO NOT let anyone replace/redo a bus shelter without asking someone who uses the bus. The stop by the Angel is a prime example of money being spent uselessly, 3.11 I do cycle, separation from cars would make life pleasanter and safer. 5.03 If you want the village newsletter to be a means of communication - 3 times a year is not enough. 6.03 More seats scattered perhaps would be more use - On the rec, public footpaths Dawson's walk etc. 6.06 Depends on the buses. BRI is fine. Southmead not. Clevedon no buses. WSM takes forever. 7.08 More planting, more upkeep. A shrub warden? 8.02 Pavements. Why not ask people to cut shrubs back? i.e ask them personally if they are able. Pay to help if not. 9.03 More jobs in L.A. may not lessen traffic 11.07 There is already several yoga classes & 2 taichi 8.01 Walking I walk anyway. Safer would mean pleasant AND safer. p.s. I would like a public loo near the village hall.

Have our pavements and roads brought up to standard On the Lampton Road - Fenhurst -Elmhurst Gardens. Double yellow lines on corners to allow coaches to get round to school. Stop parking on pavements.

I would like to see the pavements from Lovelinch Gardens to the Legion resurfaced and flattened to avoid people slipping up, especially old people or someone having difficulty to walk.

Widening pavements and more crossings to encourage walking More rubbish bins Salt bins on Keedwell Hill should be removed Circular footpath is VERY GOOD Thank you for including survey for young people

"Wider pavements" regardless of traffic requirements. Householders find if "hedges" not kept in order "Health food" and organic food shops in village "Policeman" in Ridgeway Road Traffic calming ONLY if Ridgeway etc is done as well as main road

Bank wanted No parking on grass verges or in front of drives Wanted: to observe police presence during school holidays walkways / pavements to be kept clear of overgrowing plants wanted: pavements / footpaths suitable for pushchairs

People who choose to live in a village shouldn't expect the leisure facilities of a town and I pay more than enough Council tax as it is! We need enough facilities for young people to prevent nuisance behaviour, but not so much as to attract young people from outside Long Ashton. Apparently this has happened in Backwell, with outsiders causing disturbance. Leylandii hedge just past the Little Tipple is a nuisance: Iam angry the owner has let this hedge grow so wide. A full width pavment is needed here for mums with small children and the elderly. Speed cameras would get vandalised.
