As a mother of 2 who still requires a "buggy" - I experience difficultiesin getting in and out of some of my local shops. Especially on days when I have to use a double buggy. The chaemist and Post Offcie have high steps making it difficult to get buggies in and doors open. A slope would be useful. In addition the post office layout is poor and difficult to get around with buggys and I often go to Nailsea P Officewhere space and entry to the shop is not a problem.

The weak areas in Long Ashton are the condition and facilities of most of the shops. We consider the only quality shops are the bakery and the chemist. The other shops are in poor condition unbinviting and depressing. You only have to compare these shops with any in other villages. e.g. compare our Co-op with the one in Chew Magna. Chew Magna Co-Op is always well stocked, well presented, clean and withh polite and attentive staff. the whole central area of Long Ashton need to be brought into the 21st century in order to survive. Illegal signs are also a problem. Some retail outlets just keep adding signs without applying for planning permission these do not seem to be regulated and should be. Long Ashton is a good village with many good people, we all need to ensure it does not fall into an unregulated sprawl. I actively avoid Long ashton Post Office. I go to Failand monre than helpful and cheery.

post office is important, next day delivery not guaranteed unless posted before 12pm, needs modernising inside, I would need 2 buses to get to work, speed and amount of traffic concerns, plus parking outside Toyota garage/top of Glebe road, makes access in and out of road difficult, parking also a problem along the Weston road where they are developing the old Research station

more reliable cheaper bus service another doctor's service a bank cheaper supermarker larger post office cafe larger library better maintained roads - too many pot holes

Yellow lines only effective if policed Parking of lorries in front of Co-op dangerous Auto Scuderia should not park cars on main road Post office should be relocated to a larger building Residents should be made aware of responsiblities re overhaning hedges etc Co-op should take care of trees by its parking.

I would like to see the Council do something about the lanes and hedges. The trees are getting out of order. We have had to cut back [?] overgrown down the lane. I know people that had their head scratched with the thorns during evenings. the worst lane is the one from Cedar Road to Brokes Farm - the trees need to be cut back. Considering the size of LA and the surrounding area, I think that the PO is inadequate. There is not enough room to move in there. Suggest an approach to be made to the Co-op to introduce a PO within this store, similar to the ones already operating within the Bristol area.

Please support existing shops and post office. Additional shops would be most welcome.
