The Local Development Framework is a series of planning documents which together will guide development within North Somerset to 2026.
We will be beginning consultation this week on the early stages of two Local Development Framework documents
- Issues and Options for the North Somerset Core Strategy (which sets the overall context for land use planning within North Somerset)
- Issues and Options for the Weston-super-Mare Town Centre Area Action Plan (which looks in detail at Weston’s town centre, sea front and gateway areas)
Your council will be receiving more details and a copy of the documents later this week. My purpose in contacting you now is to give advance notice of this consultation.
The Core Strategy Issues and Options and Weston-super-Mare Town Centre Issues and Options documents will be available on the council's website, libraries, from the planning offices and also the exhibitions which will be held in various places around the district. These begin on Saturday 6 October at Long Ashton Library and Monday 8 October at the Winter Gardens in Weston-super-Mare, where planning officers will be available to answer questions. Full details of these and other exhibitions will be sent to your council later this week.
The October issue of North Somerset Life magazine (distributed Thursday 4 October) contains details of the consultation. The Core Strategy Issues and Options leaflet will also be delivered to households in North Somerset the following Thursday (11 October).
The closing date for comments is Friday 30 November.
